Meet London's Top Knee & Hip Medical Team 

Dr Arjuna Imbuldeniya Specialist Knee, Hip & Trauma Orthopaedic Consultant MBBS, B.Med,Sci (Hons), MSc, DIC, FRCS (Tr& Orth) 

Mr Imbuldeniya proudly works as an NHS Consultant Surgeon in Trauma and Orthopaedics employed by the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust since 2015. His NHS practice is largely based at West Middlesex University hospital, London, where is mother worked as a midwife many years earlier and where he was also born! 
 
His parents moved to the UK from Sri-Lanka in the late 1960’s. He grew up in Ealing and then later Acton in West London and was fortunate to be awarded a full assisted place at Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith
Mr Imbuldeniya graduated as a medical doctor in 2001 from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals Medical School, University of London. 
 
He spent a number of years training as a junior doctor at The Royal London Hospital. His senior surgical training was based in North West London including appointments at Charing Cross Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital Paddington and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Prior to taking up his consultant post, Mr Imbuldeniya undertook international specialist fellowship training at the renowned Mater Hospital in Sydney, Australia. This is the largest joint replacement centre in the Southern Hemisphere where he learned both established and new cutting edge surgical techniques in hip and knee surgery from some of Australia’s most respected and experienced surgeons. 
 
More recently he was awarded the 2018 ESSKA Sports Knee Fellowship traveling to Barcelona to learn from the team that manage knee injuries in elite athletes including those from Barcelona FC. He learned about newer therapies including stem cell treatments, and other knee preservation surgery including meniscal replacement and repair. 
 
In 2024 he became one of the first UK surgeons to perform the Rapid Recovery Rottinger Hip replaecment, popularised in Munich, Germany which is the quickest and least invasive way to currently perform this successful procedure. 
Dr Imbuldeniya is trained in and believes in the use of technology assisted surgery such as robotic guided joint replacement surgery (MAKO and CORI robots) and has completed a Masters level degree in Health Policy from Imperial College London, publishing on innovation in healthcare such as new virtual fracture clinics. 
 
He has expertise in keyhole surgery of the knee including meniscus repair, ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction, surgery to help with catching and locking in the knee, robotic assisted partial knee replacement, robotic assisted total knee replacement, the Rapid Recovery Rottinger hip replacement particularly in the younger adult and complex revision/redo hip replacement. 
Dr Imbuldeniya is a member of the British Association, for Surgery of the Knee, The British Hip Society, The British Patellofemoral Society and The European Society of Sports Knee Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a qualified Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor for medical professionals. 
He is actively involved in training the next generation of doctors and surgeons in Central and West London and is a surgical examiner for final year medical students studying at Imperial College, London. 
Dr Imbuldeniya is author to a number of recent research and clinic audit papers published in peer reviewed medical journals relating to hip, knee and orthopaedic trauma surgery. He has also presented this work with at national and international medical conferences. Copies of his published research are available on this site. 
 
He has been the Chief investigator for clinical trials both with Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College, London. 
Hailing from West London he is a lifelong supporter and season ticket holder at Brentford FC, and cherishes all his spare time enjoying the ups and downs of life with his wife, 3 young children, dog and cats.

Dr Annie graduated as a medical doctor from Glasgow University in 2013. She worked as a surgeon in training in London prior to moving into Public Health. She is currently undertaking a PhD in cancer services, and has completed a Masters level degree from Imperial College in Healthcare and Design. 
 
Her medical knowledge and experience with treating patients, makes her ideal to manage The West London Knee and Hip clinic. 
 
Annie can be contacted via email and runs most aspects of the practice including procedure scheduling, document management and billing. 
 
She has also been an orthopaedic patient requiring both elbow and knee surgery after skiing accidents, so she understands what it is like to sit on both sides of the consulting room. 
 
Outside of the clinic and work, her main passion lies in baking, cooking and Scuba diving.

Both Kelly and Joanne have been in the private sector for over 10 years now. Kelly was previously working as a CQC reigstered manager, and supporting consultants in private practice. Joanne has a wealth of experience in running private medical services and both love their roles helping patients on their journey from initial consult to investigations, follow up appointments and hearing about their successful treatment.

Dr Chiara Pieretti Consultant Anaesthetist MBBS, MSc, CCT University of Genoa, Italy 

Dr Pieretti Qualified as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and ICU from The University Of Genoa, Italy, In 2009. 
 
She moved to England in 2013 and has worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist at WMUH – Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust since 2016. She is currently is lead for her department. 
 
During her career she developed a particular interest in Regional Anaesthesia becoming proficient in Regional and Neuraxial Blocks. 
 
This means patients having to undergoing surgery have a fantastic pain free and stress free experience. 
 
She regularly provides anaesthesia for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Emergency Surgery and Obstetrics. 
 
In her free time, she loves to practice sports, especially rowing and snowboarding, and ride her motorbike. She is also a huge LEGO enthusiast which makes buying her birthday presents relatively straightforward. 

Dr Anesh Chavda Consultant MSK Interventional Radiologist MBBS BSc MRCP FRCR 

Anesh read medicine at University College London. He initially undertook MRCP as part of core medical training before changing specialty and completing radiology training in both the North East and London at the Imperial college training scheme including St Mary’s, Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals. 
 
Anesh is dual fellowship trained in musculoskeletal imaging whilst also practicing general radiology. He spent six months at the specialist bone tumour centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and then undertook eighteen months of sports musculoskeletal imaging training at St Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, Canada. Here he taught on MSK imaging courses in British Columbia whilst also producing multiple peer reviewed publications and co-authoring book chapters. He has presented both nationally and internationally and reviews articles for international musculoskeletal radiology journals.  
 
Considering his interest in sports both personally and professionally he has volunteered as a radiologist at the upcoming 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. 
 
Currently, he is a member of the Society of Skeletal Radiology, the British Society of Skeletal Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America. 
 
His current practice as a consultant radiologist is based at West Middlesex University and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals, sub-specialising in diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal imaging, with expertise in ultrasound, fluoroscopy, computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
